Cookies

One cookie makes the daily limit work. The rest are analytics, and you can refuse them.

This page lists everything Feeling Forecast stores in your browser. It sits alongside the privacy policy, which covers what happens on the server.

Strictly necessary

ff_vid — the visitor cookie

  • Set by: this site, when you submit a feeling. Browsing without submitting does not set it.
  • Contains: a random id and a signature. No name, no IP address, nothing derived from you.
  • Purpose:to notice a second submission from the same browser on the same UTC day. It is the mechanism behind "one submission per person, per day".
  • Lifetime: up to about 400 days, the longest browsers permit.
  • Flags: HttpOnly (JavaScript on the page cannot read it), Secure, SameSite=Lax.

This cookie is not used for tracking, profiling, or advertising, and it is not shared with anyone. It is strictly necessary for a service you explicitly asked for — submitting to a one-per-day poll — so it is set without a consent prompt. Deleting it is harmless: the site will simply issue a new one the next time you submit.

Cloudflare Turnstile

The bot check that runs before a submission is accepted. Turnstile may store a short-lived token or similar value in your browser to record that a challenge was passed, so you are not asked to solve it repeatedly. It is a security control, not analytics, and Turnstile is designed not to track users across sites. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.

Analytics

Vercel Web Analytics

Counts page views and referrers. It sets no cookies and does not build a cross-site profile; it reports aggregate traffic only.

Google Analytics

Active only when the site is deployed with a Google Analytics measurement id — it is off in local development and on preview deployments. When active it sets cookies in the _ga family (typically _ga and _ga_<id>, lasting up to two years) to tell repeat visits apart and measure which pages get read.

These are not necessary for the site to work. To refuse them you can block or clear cookies for this site in your browser, use your browser's tracking-protection or a content blocker, or install Google's opt-out browser add-on. Refusing them has no effect on submitting a feeling or reading a forecast.

What is never set

  • No advertising or retargeting cookies.
  • No social media pixels or share widgets.
  • No cross-site tracking, and nothing sold to data brokers.

Clearing everything

Clearing this site's cookies removes every identifier described here. The only visible consequence is that the site will no longer recognise that your browser already submitted today — the per-network daily quota still applies regardless, so this is not a way around the limit.
